Who would have thought that in order to get married at a legit castle, you don't have to travel all the way to Europe? You can find that medieval European flair, right here in Maryland, at the Cloisters Castle in Lutherville.
People who have been following me for a while know how I'm all about making your wedding your own. Paige and Cody truly did! They created a fairytale wedding that somehow still felt intimate and laid back.
During the consultations with my future couples I usually ask what made them choose their venue. Paige's answer: It's a castle! Question answered. I had never photographed a wedding at the Cloisters before, but just by looking up some photos online beforehand I knew I was going to fall in love with it probably just as much as Paige. After this introduction you might have guessed that I did!
There were many things I loved about Paige's & Cody's wedding, here are some of my personal highlights from this day:
Attire
Paige's Princess dress was absolutely breathtaking. Once of the first things I do at almost every wedding is taking a photo of the dress. Having met the couples at consultations. and often engagement sessions beforehand, I'm always so curious what kind of the dress the bride has chosen for herself. I was so excited when I got to unwrap this gorgeous princess dress! Cody's classy blue three piece suit from complemented her dress perfectly.
The Details
Paige and Cody somehow managed to incorporate a touch of Halloween into their wedding in a very classy and subtle way. Masks for the couple and the wedding party, plus being in a castle and a few guests who dressed up up for the occasion was all that was needed to create a tasteful Halloween flair. The floral arrangements by Crimson & Clover Floral Design added a little drama with their gorgeous fiery red and deep purple blooms.
I especially love when couples add their own meaningful details, Paige added pendants to her bouquet in remembrance of family members who couldn't be there, to still hold them close on her wedding day.
Outside Ceremony & Reception
The ceremony was held outside on this beautiful October day and so was part of the reception. During cocktail hour the ceremony space was quickly turned into a romantic dinner location with a U shaped table arrangement which created an intimate and personal feel.
After dinner and the couples first dance outdoors, the party was moved inside. My personal highlight: The cake! Patisserie Poupon outdid themselves with this white and gold four tier piece of art. And not only was it beautiful to look at, it was tasty as well!
Lot's to play with
The countless photo opts made it so joyful to shoot this wedding. I'm a sucker for transitioning photos in between the big moments, and being in such an interesting location made those shots even more fun. From the spiral staircase, the unique rooms and wallpapers and decorations, to the impressive facade of the building, the options are endless.
A huge Thank You to everyone who made this day special!
